The Miami Marlins have quietly rewritten their season script in 2026.
The Fish sit sixth in the National League with a 52-45 record and are riding a three-game losing streak after dropping a 2-5 decision to the Cleveland Guardians on July 12.
The Marlins’ pitching staff has been the backbone of their resurgence. Miami’s starters own a 3.82 ERA, good for fifth in the NL, while the bullpen has racked up 20 saves in high-leverage spots. Sandy Alcantara, the ace, has been lights-out with a 2.95 ERA and 112 strikeouts in 103 innings.
Miami’s lineup has rediscovered its power stroke. The Fish rank seventh in the NL with 116 home runs, led by Jazz Chisholm Jr.’s 22 blasts and Giancarlo Stanton’s 20. Their 4.5 runs per game average is up from 3.8 in 2025.
Defensive upgrades have been a difference-maker. Miami’s outfielders have saved 12 runs above average, while the infield’s .985 fielding percentage ranks third in the league. Luis Arraez, the second baseman, has been flawless with a .992 mark.
A brutal road trip looms. Miami faces the Dodgers, Padres and Braves in a six-game stretch that could push them deeper into the wild-card hunt. The Fish need to tighten their rotation’s command if they want to avoid slipping further.
The Marlins’ season was supposed to be a rebuild. Instead, they’re playing spoiler—and maybe more.
