The Miami Marlins announced a series of roster moves Thursday, including placing outfielder Owen Caissie on the 10-day injured list with a right calf strain.
Caissie started in right field Tuesday before being removed due to the injury, with Griffin Conine taking his place.
The Marlins recalled right-hander Ryan Gusto from Triple-A Jacksonville to fill in for the injured starters.
Manager Clayton McCullough said Caissie's injury is "not something we wanted to really take a chance on" as the team heads into the All-Star break.
The Marlins also added outfield depth by recalling Reece Hinds from Triple-A Jacksonville, who has an .864 OPS, 12 home runs, and 33 RBI through 51 minor league games.
The Marlins, currently on a W6 streak, won 8-4 vs Seattle Mariners on 2026-07-09, and stand 6th in National League with a 52-42 record.
Right-hander Janson Junk returned to the rotation after being placed on the 15-day injured list with right shin bone inflammation.
The Marlins optioned reliever Zach Brzykcy to Triple-A Jacksonville as part of the final roster move.
Shortstop Otto Lopez collected his 127th hit of the first half Thursday, setting a new franchise record for most hits before the All-Star break.
Lopez will represent the club, along with right-hander Max Meyer, in Philadelphia for the All-Star Game.
Outfielder Griffin Conine belted a game-tying solo home run in the second inning, continuing his strong play since returning from a torn left hamstring in April.
The Marlins placed left-handed reliever John King on the 15-day injured list, retroactive to July 8, with a left lateral ankle sprain.
King has been a key contributor to a Marlins bullpen that has been among the best in Major League Baseball this season, posting a 2.48 ERA with 30 strikeouts in 40 appearances.
The hope is that neither King nor Caissie will need to miss significant time due to their injuries, with the All-Star break coming July 12.
The Marlins' final game before the All-Star break is on July 12, and the team is looking to maintain their momentum with a 52-42 record.
